AXI laundry models equipped with artificial intelligence

28 Jun, 18

Domestic appliance manufacturer Hoover has introduced the AXI laundry models equipped with artificial intelligence (AI).

The first AXI models are the 9kg and 10kg washing machines, which were launched in June, followed by a 13kg model and a 10+6kg washer dryer in August.

Fully Wi-Fi connected, AXI washing machines can be controlled through the Hoover Wizard app, Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant.

With A+++ energy efficiency credentials, AXI washing machines have a guided washing feature which suggests the most appropriate programme and saves frequently-used cycles.

The appliances also have an ultra-rapid wash programme of just 14 minutes.

Using geo-location technology, AXI washing machines can check the weather forecast to work out the best time to run the cycle, whilst also having a direct line to Hoover’s service team, for if and when support or maintenance is required.

With Total Care technology, AXI gives users the freedom to wash different fabrics and colours together, and is complemented by Hoover’s exclusive Care Dose system which automatically adds exactly the right amount of detergent and softener, based on water hardness and selected programme, for up to 21 cycles.

Boasting steam functionality, which reduces ironing time or refreshes clothes without having to fully wash them, AXI washing machines have Hoover’s exclusive silent invertor technology which reduces noise and vibration.

Also, users can set up and start any programme using their voice, thanks to Hoover Talks technology, which also provides laundry advice, as well as general maintenance information.

Steve Macdonald, business director for freestanding appliances at Hoover Candy, said: “As the brand which launched the UK’s first collection of connected appliances in June 2015, we’ve made it our mission to lead the way with smart models.

“Laundry appliances make up 38% of the market, so it was important for us to focus on this product category for our latest launches.

“We know that a quarter of consumers would be interested in buying a connected appliance, so we made a concerted effort to ensure that our latest smart models included state-of-the-art technology which will truly benefit people by learning and adapting to provide bespoke solutions to daily life.

“We’re very proud of our AXI models and are excited to bring AI into more people’s homes so they can discover just how useful smart appliances can be.”

Hoover is set to expand on the AXI family later in the year with dishwashing, tumble drying and cooling models.

Earlier in the year, Hoover announced the Wi-Fi connected Hoover HBTDW H7A1TCE tumble dryer, read more about that here.
