CEO of the Association of Manufacturers of Domestic Appliances (AMDEA) Paul Hide has been honoured with an industry award.
He scooped the Contribution To The Industry accolade at this year’s Innovative Electrical Retailing (IER) Awards ceremony, organised by IER Magazine, and held at the Park Plaza London Riverbank hotel.
The honour, presented by Beko MD and AMDEA chair, Teresa Arbuckle and Retra CEO Howard Saycell, comes after only three and a half years in post at AMDEA.

Hide previously worked as director of marketing and membership at TechUK and, before that, for consumer electronics brands.
In his time at AMDEA, he has overseen a growth in membership, and spearheaded improved engagement with Westminster and Whitehall, channel partners, the media, academic communities and conferences, while also enhancing research work and charity outreach.
Under his leadership, Hide spearheaded the award-winning Know Watt’s What campaign, aimed at educating and empowering consumers to make informed decisions about energy-efficient appliances.
On receiving the award, Paul Hide said: “I am so grateful to have been given this honour. It means a great deal to me. Appliances are vital to everyone in helping them go about their daily lives and I take huge pride in representing the industry through the auspices of AMDEA.
“We’ve achieved a lot in the last few years at AMDEA but we’re not going to be resting on our laurels – we’ve plenty more excellent work in the pipeline.”
Teresa Arbuckle, Chair AMDEA, congratulated Hide on his achievement: “Paul has had a distinguished career in the consumer electronics and appliance industries, ensuring that British customers and consumers receive highest quality products and services over the years.
“I am most thankful to Paul for his strong leadership in taking over as CEO of AMDEA, the UK trade association for manufacturers of domestic appliances, in 2019.
“Paul has not only strengthened the leadership team at AMDEA but also worked on consumer campaigns which promote the benefits of home appliances, winning a Trade PR award for Know Watt’s What last year in addition to supporting Register My Appliance into its eigth year.
“He has strengthened relations with APPLiA while improving government and retailer collaboration, as evidenced with last month’s House of Parliament event on Sustainability.
“We wish Paul continued success in delivering achievements for AMDEA for many years into the future!”
