Howdens hits £1 billion in sales

Record sales figures for 2014

Howdens has celebrated taking £1billion in product sales for the year, for the first time, and the company has achieved this with three weeks of the financial year still to come.

Since the first depot was opened in 1995, sales have grown every year, with the exception of 2009, to reach the £1 billion sales landmark.

Chief executive Matthew Ingle commented: “This is a very special day for Howdens. Reaching £1billion of sales within 20 years of opening our first depots is testimony to the drive and enthusiasm of all the people who work at Howdens. Our strong relationships with our suppliers and the total commitment of our staff – both in supply and the depots – ensure that the more than 300,000 building trade professionals who rely on the business receive the best possible service.”

Ingle continued: “Above all, we recognise that kitchens are the centre of our homes, and we take this very seriously. There remains much to do. Howdens’ future is as exciting and promising as that day in 1995 when the story began. I am very proud to mark this landmark moment in the Howdens’ story today.”
