Fashion and homeware retailer launches Matalan Direct to sell big ticket items
Fashion and homeware retailer Matalan has launched an online subsidiary Matalan Direct to sell bathrooms and big ticket home items.
Augmenting its existing homeware offer, Matalan Direct offers bathroom suites, baths, showers, taps and radiators.
Matalan Direct plans to expand the business to become a “complete home furnishings and improvements destination”.

Commenting on the venture,managing director of Matalan Jason Hargreaves said: “We are looking to cater for Matalan’s existing 12.5m customer base who are already highly engaged by the brand’s successful and fast-expanding homeware offering.”
He explained why the company chose to create an online platform: “Our target is to give customers maximum choice and convenience whilst remaining affordable which is why our range will retain our value price point but will also offer options to suit any budget.”
The Matalan Direct website combines ecommerce with blogs to offer visitors design inspiration.
Sintered stone manufacturer Neolith has launched Calacatta Roma and Cappadocia Sunset, inspired by nature and classical architecture, and for use in kitchens or bathrooms walls, floors, in gardens or facades.
They belong to The New Classtone and Fusioncollections which interpret marble and natural stone, respectively, and boast Neolith’s antibacterial NeolEAT technology.
Inspired by Ancient Rome, Calacatta Roma (pictured top) pays homage to Italian Carrara marble, with ochre and grey veins in a white background.
While the Cappadocia region, in central Turkey, with its rock formations formed by volcanoes and underground cities, has inspired Cappadocia Sunset (pictured below).
Just like all of Neolith’s surfaces, Calacatta Roma and Cappadocia Sunset are resistant to heat and atmospheric conditions, are 100% recyclable, and do not contain added quartz to their formulation.
