“Significant number of units affected” across Hotpoint, Indesit and Creda brands
Household appliance manufacturer Indesit Company has identified a fault with a “significant number” of tumble dryers, which has been reported by ITV as causing a fire risk.
The fault has been reported across two models, which include a large air vented dryer and condensing dryer, sold under the brand names of Hotpoint, Indesit and Creda between April 2004 and October 2015.
A spokesperson for the company said: “We estimate that a significant number of units will be affected, but at this stage, we cannot speculate regarding the specific figure.

“These products were marketed in the UK and a number of other countries over the past 11 years, so we would expect a fairly large number of them to be affected.”
Indesit Company is advising consumers not to use the appliances unattended, to check the lint filter after each cycle,a nd ensure their is proper venting as directed in the instruction manual.
It is currently providing a repair program for its tumble dryers, in accordance with Trading Standards, and is contacting the owners of affected appliances.
The company has also launched a public campaign, today, to announce the repair program and encourage consumers to come forward to have their machine mended.
All customers with an Indesit, Hotpoint and Creda branded dryer purchased between April 2004 and October 2015, should visit dedicated Hotpoint or Indesit sites, altenatively contact 0800 151 0905.
Appliances produced after October 2015 are not affected by this issue.
