Italian bathroom manufacturer Scarabeo Ceramiche has won Best of Best category for its Step shower tray

Italian bathroom manufacturer Scarabeo Ceramiche has won the Best of Best category for its Step shower tray at the Iconic Awards which were held in Cologne, Germany.

It is made from 27mm thick ceramic, can be cut to size and installed flush to the floor, and features a drain cover enamelled in the same colour as the tray.

Step was designed with industrial-produced ceramic which reuses the mixtures and residues from the production process.

Supporting weights up to 1000kg, the manufacturer reports the Step tray is resistant to impact, abrasion and stains, plus it is non-slip.

Scarabeo Ceramiche claims the Step can even be used for outdoor showering, as it states the material is unaffected by thermal shocks and adverse weather.

In addition, it adds the surface texture which is available in a palette of colours, does not undergo any changed from light.

Scarabeo Ceramiche was founded in 1974 in Civita Castellana by Giovanni Calisti as a manufacturer of ceramic washbasins.

It started making ceramic bathroom accessories in 1981 and then launched designer washbasins on to the market in 1998.

The company has a factory in Civita Castellana and opened its Fabrica di Roma plant in 2008.
