CEO of the Bathroom Manufacturers Association (BMA) Tom Reynolds has spoken out against criticism towards both manufacturers in the construction industry and tradespeople.
Change of format for BMA Conference
While many businesses have shut their doors due to COVID-19 restrictions, some construction projects and manufacturers’ operations have continued with essential work.
However, several businesses have reported a backlash on social media as a result.
The BMA reported many of its members produce essential fittings, which are needed to keep people in their homes and the NHS running safely.
It includes supplying bathroom facilities to the emergency Nightingale Hospital, which is currently being set up at London’s Excel.
Tom Reynolds said: “Where companies are recklessly ignoring the PHE [Public Health England] guidance they should be called out, but such behaviour is rare.
“Those people in the bathroom and construction industry who are continuing their essential work do so responsibly.”
“I’m furious with the keyboard warriors who are smearing our industry. They conveniently ignore that bathroom fittings are essential for growing capacity in the NHS and maintaining hand hygiene.
“My message for Shadow Ministers talking about a ‘phoney lockdown’, is that instead of a cheap shot and a soundbite they should be working positively and collaboratively with the Government.”
