Part of Carbon Disclosure Project’s annual report

The Travis Perkins Group has been commended by the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) for its approach to the disclosure of climate change information.

The Climate Disclosure Index is part of the CDP’s annual FTSE 350 report. It highlights the constituent companies within the FTSE 350 Index which have displayed a strong approach to information disclosure regarding climate change.

Companies are scored on their climate change disclosure and high scores indicate good internal data management and understanding of climate change related issues affecting the company.

The 2013 Index, compiled by PwC on behalf of CDP, has 41 companies listed. Scores are compiled from a CDP questionnaire which focused on greenhouse gas emissions, emissions reduction targets and the risks and opportunities associated with climate change.

Head of group environment at the Travis Perkins Group, Jez Cutler said: “We are delighted to be included in the Disclosure Leadership index; it signals a maturity in our approach to climate change and is great recognition of the extent that the management of risks and opportunities is now embedded into our thinking in all parts of the Group.”

CEO of CDP Paul Simpson added: “Companies that make the Climate Disclosure Leadership Index have demonstrated strong internal data management practices for the measurement of greenhouse gas emissions and energy use.

“They are also giving clear consideration to the business issues related to climate change and their exposure to climate-related risks and opportunities.”
