Smeg presents gold medal winner Lizzie Yarnold with a gold FAB fridge

Following news the Royal Mail wasn’t to honour Winter Olympic gold medal skeleton winner Lizzie Yarnold with a gold painted post box, as it did for athletes in the London Olympic Games, Smeg has presented her with a gold fridge.

The fridge, which is also emblazoned with Swarovski crystals on the Smeg logo, is the first of its kind in the UK.

Yarnold, who won Great Britain’s first ever gold in the Sochi Games said: “It was such a surreal moment when I won gold in the Olympics. I knew I was capable of winning so long as I stuck to doing what I had always done on the track. When I realised I had won it was so strange – I looked over and saw my family right there screaming and crying and I realised this was something special.

“I love my new gold Smeg fridge – it’s very gold, even more so than my medal. It will take pride of place in my kitchen and remind me of this special time, so thank you.”

Smeg UK’s brand manager John Davies says: “Our Smeg FAB28RDHG fridge is currently the only model of its kind in the UK due to its unique finish. This model follows Smeg’s renowned retro-style curves and the Swarovski crystals and gold finish create the ultimate style statement that’s worthy of an Olympics winner, so we were delighted to help Lizzy celebrate her win in this way.”
