Home appliance group BSH has promoted Silke Maurer to the position of chief operating officer (COO), succeeding Michael Schollhorn who left the business in January.

She will be responsible for manufacturing, development and innovation, as well as corporate technology and global chain supply management.

Maurer joined BSH in 2016 as head of quality management and took over head of corporate technology.

In this role, her responsibilities included the strategic planning of product development, manufacturing technologies and quality management.

At the end of 2018, her area of responsibility was expanded to include corporate innovation.

Having studied a doctorate in Mechanical Engineering, Maurer worked in management positions in the automotive industry in Germany, the UK, USA and Italy.

Chairman of the board of management at BSH Karsten Ottenberg said: “We are very pleased that we can fill the position of COO internally with Silke Maurer.”

He continued: “Silke has achieved a great deal in various functions since she joined BSH two years ago.

“She has now only shown she can inspire her employees, but is a win for us with her high level of expertise and experience.

“We in the Board of Management are very much looking forward to working with her.”

BSH has recently named as Top Employer for the fourth consecutive year.
