David Matthews has been appointed as business director for Hoover SDA (Small Domestic Appliance) offering.

A floorcare industry stalwart, Matthews has worked in senior managerial positions for both Gtech and Shark.

During his time at Shark, where he was VP for sales, the company launched its first vaccuum cleaner in the UK.

His remit is to grow Hoover SDA floorcare offering through new product development, with a particular focus on cordless and smart models.

Matthews will also oversee market opportunities for further growth of the Hoover brand.

Speaking about his appointment, David Matthews commented: “Hoover is a trusted and iconic brand across the world, with a fantastic heritage in the UK.

“As such, retailers and customers expect a lot form us, and so they should, which means that we need to deliver time and time again.

“In the new role, it is my responsibility to drive forward the floorcare categories and bring to market products which delight and add value to the user.

“I’m looking forward to delivering ambitious, yet achievable growth plans that will align with the Group’s business objectives.”

CEO of Hoover Candy Group David Meyerwitz added: “David is a fantastic appointment for us at a time when we’re achieving considerable growth from both sales and company culture.

“His wealth of experience in the floorcare sector is invaluable at a time when we are launching high performance, market-leading products that deliver tangible user benefits.”

The Hoover Candy Group has recently opened a 12,00sqft office with showroom in Warrington.
