Senior MD of Laufen takes charge of Roca group

Spanish bathroom manufacturer Roca Group has appointed Alberto Magrans as CEO of the company, succeeding Ramon Asensio who has retired.

Prior to his new position, Magrans was senior managing director of Laufen and has been with the company for more than 20 years.

Managing director of Roca UK Alan Dodds said Magrans had started work at head office in various departments in Roca, before running and growing the Roca business in China.

He now takes charge of the entire family-run bathroom group, which includes global brands Roca and Laufen.

Having celebrated its centenary, Roca was founded in Barcelona in 1917 as a heating-based company.

It entered the bathroom space in 1926 when it started producing baths. followed by sanitwaryware in 1936.

The Roca Group now operates in 170 markets, employs 24,000 people worldwide, and has a turnover of €1,775million.

It manufactures from 86 production plants and is a complete bathroom provider, making sanitwaryware, taps, bathtubs and furniture.

According to the company it is the fifth largest brassware manufacturer in the world.

Roca UK has recently opened its HQ, which combines three locations into one building.

Speaking at the official opening, Roca UK MD Alan Dodds commented on the appointment of Alberto Magrans to CEO, stating: “He understands the group. Albert is very commercially-focused and very brand-focused and we are very excited about the new directions he’ll bring to the group.”

However, Dodds said any new directions for the company will be based on knowing the history of the group.
